I'm so grateful for the The City of Kingston and the INVISTA Centre for this opportunity, and I hope that my mural "Waterway" will bring a fresh energy and flow to the centre for years to come. I invite you to attend the opening of Wednesday, June 12th at 6pm to celebrate the launch!!

Thank you for all the support and encouragement from friends and family, and especially to Andy who let me use the ENTIRE upstairs to create this 140 ft mural off-site. It was a big undertaking, and I'm thrilled to see finally see it up! The Travelling Artisan

Plein Air Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/273830886853604/

What is plein air technique?

En plein air is a French expression that means “in the open air.” It is used by artists to describe the art of outdoor painting, capturing landscapes and views in natural light.

"I love finding inspiration in nature and creating outdoors. There is nothing quite like sketching and painting on-site, surrounded by mountains, lakes and forests, or busy streets, historical sites and quaint neighborhoods. Every place I travel to I love to capture my experience through my sketchbook and paintbrush." - Danielle Folkerts

**ARTWORK BY DANIELLE FOLKERTS

“Try to forget what objects you have before you - a tree, a house, a field, or whatever. Merely think, 'Here is a little square of blue, here an oblong of pink, here a streak of yellow,' and paint it just as it looks to you, the exact color and shape, until it gives you your own impression of the scene before you.” - Claude Monet

This comprehensive watercolour class offers practical theory and key techniques, with plenty of hands on instruction and creative self-exploration. In this class you will discover new skills, broaden your creative tool kit, and build a solid foundation to work from.

The Modern Watercolours course is perfect for beginners, or experienced artists looking for a fresh perspective.  We will dive in and learn about different supply brands, where to shop, essential techniques, brush applications and more. We'll experiment with traditional and modern techniques and discuss composition, colour mixing, and incorporating unique materials. Enjoy a live painting demo, and plenty of free-time to practice and play. This class will prepare you to confidently start painting at home! Feel free to bring imagery for inspiration, or your own painting materials. All materials, a worksheet, and an optional key image are provided for you. Enjoy light refreshments, and great company. Please note, this is a small and intimate class, expect more one-on-one time! No experience required.

PiCATso Watercolour Workshop at Southpaw Cat Cafe - SOLD OUT

I could not anticipate how difficult and hilarious it would be to simply “set up” for a workshop with 10+ cats! If it fits, it truly sits. Oh a piece of paper? Sit. Oh a box that you are trying to unpack? Sit. Oh a glass of paint water? Drink. Oh a jar of paintbrushes? Spill! Oh you’re trying to talk? Let’s whack those toes! It was quite the experience! And we can’t wait to do it again! See: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/573894136/picatso-watercolour-workshop-at-southpaw?ref=shop_home_feat_2
