I'm Danielle Folkerts
A visual artist, art educator, creative coordinator, avid traveller, and lover of the ocean.
When I'm not in the studio painting or buried under a pile of wool working on textile installations, you can find me developing, coordinating, and instructing creative workshops. I’m known for my colourful and textural artworks, my vibrant large-scale murals, and my upbeat and inspiring workshops. I have a passion for art education + creative programming, and I love providing others with valuable opportunities + experiences to explore their own creative potential.
My love of travelling and exploring this wonderful planet is echoed in my art practice. From scuba diving deep in the ocean - surrounded by vibrant, towering coral reefs, and curious creatures - to jumping into rivers, and kayaking on the west coast, I draw my inspiration from my global + local travels. The intention behind my current body of work, ART FOR THE OCEAN, is to share the intricate beauty of the ocean, and educate communities on ocean conservation, while bringing awareness to opportunities to support our changing oceans.
I work with people like you. I serve the dreamers, doers, and entrepreneurs by delivering quality, educational, and modern, creative workshops . I’ve found that most people are curious about exploring their artistic side, but struggle in knowing how and where to start! Good news, the desire and decision to own your creative potential is the first step. Now, it's time to take action!
I create custom arts programming, instruct unique courses, and provide valuable resources along the way. My goal is to provide you with a comfortable space to create, and an opportunity to build a strong artistic foundation, while developing your creative tool kit - surrounded by a like-minded local community. I work with all ages and skill levels, and teach a variety of mediums including: watercolour, acrylic, mixed media, printmaking, mural painting, weaving and more!
It's time to focus on your creative journey! I'll help you get there.
